RoRo or container — how cars travel
Vehicles ship either by RoRo (roll-on/roll-off, where the car is driven onto a dedicated vessel) or inside a 20ft or 40ft container, which can also be shared with household effects when you're relocating. We'll recommend the method that suits your vehicle, destination and budget. Vehicle and container shipping is quoted POA — send the make, model and destination town for a price.
UK to Africa only
Car shipping with Rolats runs UK to Africa only — we do not ship vehicles on the reverse leg. We move cars, vans and SUVs to destinations across our network of around 45 African countries, with the Nigeria, Ghana and Zimbabwe corridors among the most popular.
Destination rules, duty and inspection
Destination rules vary by country — age limits, drive-side requirements, pre-export inspection and duty all differ, so we walk you through what your destination allows before you commit. As an HMRC Customs Authorised, EORI-registered forwarder we prepare the UK-side export documents and coordinate clearance so the vehicle isn't held at the far end.
Shipping a car with a move home
Most returning families want the car alongside the household. Because we ship both, your vehicle and personal effects can travel together — often the most economical option in a shared container — handled under one all-in GBP quote, door-to-door from our Dagenham depot.
Why ship your car with Rolats
Pan-African specialists since 2007, a Dagenham depot, RoRo and container options, customs-savvy export paperwork, and the ability to combine the car with a household move. All-in GBP pricing, no surprise charges at the African end.
