⚠️ This is a working template based on standard UK freight-forwarding terms. Please have it reviewed by a qualified solicitor before relying on it.
1. About us
These terms govern shipping and freight-forwarding services provided by ROLATS SERVICES UK LIMITED (“Rolats”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England & Wales (Companies House no. 06153914), with its depot at 494 Gale Street, Dagenham, RM9 4NU. Contact: +44 7735 369702, info@rolatsservicesdagenham.co.uk.
2. Our service
We arrange the collection, consolidation, air or sea carriage, customs documentation and delivery of cargo between the United Kingdom and African destinations. We act as a freight forwarder and may use third-party carriers and agents to perform parts of the service.
3. Quotes & pricing
Quotes are based on the information you provide (weight, dimensions, contents and destination) and are valid for the period stated. Air freight is charged per kilogram (chargeable weight) plus a handling charge; sea cargo is charged per bag or by volume; car and container shipping are quoted per shipment. Local import duty, VAT and government levies at the destination are not included and are payable by the receiver.
4. Payment
Payment is due as agreed at booking. We may withhold release or shipment of goods until payment is received in full.
5. Your responsibilities & packaging
You are responsible for packing your goods adequately for transit and for the accuracy of the information and documentation you provide. We are not liable for damage resulting from inadequate packaging. Please follow our packaging guide.
6. Prohibited & restricted items
You must not ship prohibited, hazardous, illegal or restricted goods. See our prohibited items list. We may refuse, hold or dispose of any shipment found to contain such items, and you remain liable for any resulting costs or penalties.
7. Customs
We prepare UK export documentation and destination paperwork (for example Form M/SONCAP, CTN, ECTN, FERI) where applicable. You are responsible for ensuring the goods may lawfully be imported into the destination country and for any duties and taxes assessed there.
8. Transit times
Transit times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Delays may occur due to carriers, ports, customs, weather or events beyond our control.
9. Insurance
Goods are not automatically insured. Marine/goods-in-transit insurance is available on request and is strongly recommended for valuable items. Without insurance, our liability is limited as set out below.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for loss or damage is limited and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Where applicable, carriage is subject to the relevant international conventions and our standard trading conditions.
11. Claims
Any claim for loss or damage must be notified to us in writing promptly and within the time limits required by the relevant carrier or convention, with supporting evidence (item list, photographs and value).
12. Cancellation
If you cancel after collection or shipment has begun, charges already incurred (including collection and handling) may apply.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
