Relocating home — the whole household
Moving back is more than a few boxes. We handle the complete household: furniture, white goods and appliances, electronics, kitchenware, clothing and personal effects — packed and consolidated at our Dagenham depot and shipped by sea container to your destination country. For a full home a 20ft or 40ft container (FCL) is usual; smaller moves can go as groupage from £70 per bag or by air at £5.90/kg + £20 handling for the things you need quickly. Taking your car with you
Most returning families want the car too. Rolats ships cars, vans and SUVs UK to Africa by RoRo or container alongside the household goods. Vehicle and container shipping is quoted POA, and destination rules — age limits, drive-side, pre-export inspection and duty — vary by country, so we walk you through what your destination allows before you commit. Note: vehicle shipping is UK to Africa only; it is not offered on the reverse leg.
Returning-resident customs concessions
Many African countries offer returning-resident or "transfer of residence" concessions — reduced or waived duty on used personal effects and sometimes a vehicle, subject to qualifying conditions (length of stay abroad, ownership period, one-vehicle limits) and inspection. As an HMRC Customs Authorised, EORI-registered forwarder we prepare the UK-side documents — inventory, valuation and the supporting paperwork your concession needs — so used effects clear smoothly rather than being charged as new goods.
